What the Bulgarian education ministry has published on AI

The Bulgarian Ministry of Education and Science (МОН) published in February 2024 guidance for teachers, pupils, parents and schools on the use of artificial intelligence in teaching, and stated that the guidance has no mandatory or binding character. The guidance, headed as a draft as of January 2024, says that for now personal information should not be used when AI is used in education unless the chosen AI system or tool gives clear guarantees for its protection, and that personal information must be protected by anonymising and masking data. In January 2026 МОН put a vision for introducing and using AI in school education to public consultation, open from 27 January to 27 February 2026.
